Exclude List Of Companies in Search With Sales Navigator

🦾 Make sure you are not outreaching a company that is already your client

When you're prospecting with Sales Navigator, you don't want to accidentally reach out to companies that are already your clients. The company exclusion feature lets you filter them out before your list is ever built.


Prerequisites

  • A LinkedIn Sales Navigator account (Core, Advanced, or Advanced Plus)
  • A list of company names you want to exclude (your existing clients, partners, or competitors)
  • A SalesMind AI account

  1. Go to Sales Navigator and click Search in the top navigation.
  2. Select Lead search or Account search depending on your goal.
  3. Apply your usual filters — job title, geography, industry, seniority level.

Step 2: Exclude Companies

  1. In the left filter panel, scroll down to Company (under Lead filters) or Account filters.
  2. Click Exclude next to the company field.
  3. Type the name of each company you want to exclude and select it from the dropdown.
  4. Repeat for every company on your exclusion list.

💡 Tip: Build a saved list of your current clients in Sales Navigator under Lists > Account Lists. You can then reference that list in the exclusion filter instead of typing each company manually.

⚠️ Warning: Company name matching in Sales Navigator is fuzzy. If a client operates under multiple brand names or subsidiaries, add each variant separately to make sure they're all excluded.


Step 3: Verify the Results

After applying exclusions, review the result count. A significant drop in results confirms the filter is working.

Scroll through a few pages to spot-check that excluded companies don't appear.

👉 Note: Sales Navigator shows up to 2,500 results per search. If your list is larger, split it by geography or industry to stay within limits.


Step 4: Import Into SalesMind AI

  1. Copy the Sales Navigator search URL from your browser's address bar.
  2. Open SalesMind AI and go to your campaign's Prospecting List.
  3. Paste the Sales Navigator URL into the search field.
  4. SalesMind AI will import the filtered leads — excluding the companies you specified.
